inspiration: sequins

This is something new I'm going to start on a weekly basis... found inspiration from, well just wherever!  I hope you all enjoy it & will gain inspiration for some of your own projects!

Today is sequins... I know, I'm generally not a sequin kinda girl, but of course having a little girl around the house has changed my outlook on many things!  I thought these girly tees from crewcuts were so incredibly awesome.  Could you imagine creating a scrapbook page or a little art piece & adding embellishments like this?  Really you wouldn't even have to use sequins... what about buttons, tiny cut paper pieces... hmmm.  I think this could be a fun challenge to create with.  I'll be posting later with my page... wanna play?  Feel free to leave a link to your creation in my comments!

oh & by the way... I want that camera shirt for myself... :)

birthday blast

this weekend we had a lot to celebrate!  Friday was our anniversary, but we spent the evening preparing for a triple birthday party for our boys & their cousin Avery that we were having on Saturday.  It was all family this year instead of the combined family & friends we usually have {sorta snuck up on us... ya know?}.  We had a great time though, we had a bbq, sat on the porch enjoying the awesome weather, the kids had a little fun with the slip n slide & of course we had all the favorites for dessert!  They consisted of each of the birthday boys' choices: Evan... donuts {I got lucky & found these star shaped ones at hy-vee},  Avery... grandma's berry pie, Collin... white cupcakes {which Lydia so beautifully decorated}.  The boys were over the top excited this year to get cold hard cash & i tunes gift cards, as they had been saving for several months to help buy their ipod touches for their birthday.  After the crowd left, the kids were off in various directions so Dan & I could finally go & enjoy so alone time :)  We decided to go low key & headed to downtown Iowa City to check out some little shops & roam the gallery there.  Then we headed to Wig and Pen for a fancy dinner of pizza {really, that's all I wanted!!!}.  It was just a perfect night to gather our thoughts, appreciate each other's company & have some nice, un-interrupted discussions about anything we wanted!!!  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend too...

sweet16

16... yep sixteen years ago I married this man... we were so young & so, so in love {still are I'm happy to say}!  I'm so amazed with all the incredible things we've experienced together, the things we've dreamed of & then accomplished... it's all been so worth it.  Everyone says marriage is hard work.  I have to agree that's true... but our hard work has paid off.  Sure there have been ups & downs... but they've made us so much stronger for sure.  I love you Dan... I love our life, I love our home, I love our kids & everything we've created together.  Happy you+me day :)

he's 8!!!

eight years ago today Dan & I were blessed with our second son... a cute little pale skinned, white ducky haired little guy that was so quiet & sweet.  As the years have gone by you've definitely tested us with your oneriness, high energy & stubbornness... but that is what make you Evan!  Your a perfectionist, you love baseball, you have a super soft heart, oh, & you still have that white ducky hair that people can't resist!  We love you so very much Evan... our world just wouldn't be the same without you!

exciting news...

no, I'm not preggers people... but my news brings me almost as much excitement, nervousness & sleepless nights!

After nearly 7 years designing with Reminisce I've decided to move from a full time position to a freelance position with the company to allow me a little more freedom to do some things I've been dreaming of.  I'm so glad that Matt has given me the opportunity to continue to work with such an awesome company... I'm truly thankful for all that they have done for me over the years, how much I have learned, the incredible people I have met & worked with & all the opportunities I've been given.  Of course I can't wait to what fun new lines I can continue to develop for them!

But on the flip side, I'm loving the ability to spread my wings a little & see what happens!  I've worked hard over the weekends to build this little website to house my new venture... pink trike design!  I'll be updating my blog more frequently with found inspiration, scrapbook creations {yay!} & artwork that will be available in my etsy shop {coming soon!}.

Thank you too for all my lovely friends & family that believe so much in me... I love you all :)

I hope you will all join me on this new journey... & maybe find something to inspire you along the way!
