fashionable fall

Every August I really get in the mood for fall... for the new fashions that are appearing in the stores, new clothes for the kids, thinking about when the leaves change, the weather gets cooler, Thanksgiving, trips to the pumpkin patch & cool evenings snuggled on the porch.  Yes, I love fall.

Well, I've done up a new paper kit called fashionable fall... a little different color combination, but still evokes thoughts of fall to me.  I've combined tans, creams, oranges, & blue-greys for this warm & cozy textured collection.  I hope you like it! Here's the link to buy it HERE!

about the page:

all patterned & textured papers from the fashionable fall collection: pink trike design.  stitching: anna aspnes, designer digitals.  fonts: splendid 66 & velvet.

journaling reads: miss L you have always had the sweetest most kissable cheeks. finding this picture of the two of us brings back so many happy memories of you as a baby.  i loved when i could hold you right there, nice & tight & kiss on those cheeks. 9.07.

thank you

I have to say that Dan & I are so overwhelmed with thankful feelings for all of our wonderful family, friends & co-workers that have shown so much support & love to us over the last several days {& for many of you for several months during her illness}.  As you can imagine at such a difficult time, it is comforting to see all the people you love & respect gather around you & just thinking of you. Today is the first day back to work & trying to regain something normal...  but I just wanted to make sure everyone knew how much we appreciate you.  I thought I'd also share a short note I wrote that initially I had only planned to write here, but I ended up having our priest read Monday night at Bev's visitation service...

"I remember nearly 20 yrs ago when I met Dan & after dating for a time he brought me to the farm one evening to meet his mom.  She was not the person I expected to be the mother of this shy, quiet young man, but quite outspoken, upfront & to the point.  I have to say that over the years I grew to know & love Bev & saw how much her children loved her as well.  I always admired her hard working ways & how she & Joe have raised 6 great children that I admire as well.  It is my dream as a mother that my children show the love, care & unselfish ways that her children have shown her these last months."

Seriously, seeing the love that these kids had for their mother was so truly endearing... the way it should be.

playing with free stuff... 8.9

I love playing with new digital goodies... I especially love all the great free stuff out there.  This is a new feature I'm planning on doing here... showing you how I created a layout or project with some free digital + giving you a freebie right here from me!  yay!  It goes without saying that I'd LOVE to see what you've done with it... I'm working on setting up a gallery for your layouts, so if you'd like to email me your layouts or projects that you create with any pink trike products, please do!  {pinktrikedesign at gmail dot com}.

I just loved these pictures I caught of Lydia as she was watching for Dan to come home from work one day. They aren't of the greatest quality, but I still think they capture the moment.  I know sometimes it's hard to make ourselves use these pictures that might be a little dark or a little grainy or not quite in focus, but if they capture the story you're trying to tell... why not?

journaling reads: waiting... lots of days we are waiting for daddy. watching down our road for his truck until he comes home & is ready to play. june 2010.

so here's what I used:

free press plate template no.13 & free paislee baroque clipping mask from Paislee Press: Oscraps

green patterned paper + cream {frames}: pinktrikedesign {here's the freebie I created for you!  click to download HERE!} yay!

have a great monday everyone :)

goodbye & we love you

Several months ago, we received a call from Dan's parents that his mother, Bev hadn't been feeling well & they were taking her to our local university hospital.  Well, over these last months we've watched this strong, boisterous, hard headed mother of 4 boys & 2 girls deteriorate to a weak, silent, helpless victim of her disease {hepatitis c from a blood transfusion more than 35 yrs ago}.  After months upon months of suffering, my mother in law Bev passed away this morning.  I think I can speak for the entire family & thank any nurse, doctor, priest, friend or relative who has in any way touched her or our families life during this time.  I know Dan is extremely appreciative of his sister's Donna & Cindy for all they've done as well, traveling each week to stay for their "shift" to make Bev & Joe more comfortable & so she could remain at home.  As well as to his brother Al who drove them back & forth to the doctors visits & Luke & Dan have filled in when needed for day stays, overnights & lawn mowing or just to spend time with Joe, as you can imagine this has been so overwhelming for him.  It's been a long hard road, but we're so thankful she is watching over us all & is no longer in pain.  In fact Lydia just told me a few weeks ago that she had a dream about grandma Meierotto & that in her dream she had wings & she was flying.  It touched me so because she was very confused when she told me, with a frown on her face... "but mommy, gramma is very sick & she needs her rest".  I guess she really is an angel now.  we love you Bev <3
